After dust, detours, and disappearing roads, the expedition ended in Palermo with a family reunion beside the cathedral and UNESCO heart of the city.

The second day in Palermo moves from dense urban immersion to elevated perspective and coastal release. It builds understanding through layers, not speed, expanding the city into its wider geographic and cultural context.
A final outward extension from Palermo to Cefalù creates contrast and perspective before the return begins. The day ends with consolidation and preparation, marking the shift from arrival to northbound movement.
After four days in Palermo, the expedition resumed with an easier coastal traverse across northern Sicily toward Messina. Less survival, more rhythm — one final slow passage before leaving the island again.
